“I thought the work was as planned, and I’m very satisfied with Bair. And I’ve used them for years and will continue to do so. They do all the normal plumbing issues: the faucets, the drains, the sewer. This was a sewer line problem going to the street. Everything is holding up just fine that they fixed for me.”
“I thought they were good. He worked in a very clean way. He explained himself very well and made sure I understood what he was doing. That was plumbing work.”
“Excellent. My husband went in the basement and smelled gas around our hot water heater. They came down, and they told us they could replace the part that was leaking; my husband opted to replace the whole heater because it was twelve years old. We have never had anything but excellent, excellent service from Robert Bair. We also use them for our heating and air. Excellent work, excellent people, excellent.”
“We had a leaky toilet. In that situation we used them for plumbing. We also use them for heating and cooling. They replaced our furnace, replaced our air conditioner, and installed an electrostatic filter. I’ve had them doing service work every year just about, seasonal service for the heating and air conditioning. I’ve always been very satisfied with them. Their workers are all extremely polite and seem to do the job very well.”
“I use Robert Bair Plumbing. Robert Bair is great. I’ve been using them probably four years. They’re o nice. They come over, and they explain things. I just really like them all. They’re nice.”
“I think they’re good. They responded quickly, and they’ve done what we wanted them to do. We use them for both plumbing and heating and cooling. The system we have was in the unit before we bought it, so we just use them for maintenance. I would recommend them to anyone.”
“I’ve been very happy with them. They’re the only people that I will use. They hire really friendly, professional people, and they always come right out when I need them. They always go the extra mile, and they try to save me money when they can. I use them for heating, cooling, and plumbing work.”
“They did some work for us just back in June. We had a new air conditioner and furnace. They did very good with the installation and everything. We already had a service contract with them. They come out and do our yearly maintenance. I would recommend them to someone else.”
“I recently got a furnace. The reason I had chosen them was because of their excellent service.”
“I’ve been very pleased with them. I’ve been happy with them. They just do a good job, and they’re timely and reasonable. The most recent time they had to come out, I think it was plumbing. Two of our bathrooms had a problem with the toilets, and they fixed what needed to be done. I have not used them for heating, but I have for all kinds of plumbing.”
“I go to Bob Bair; he’s my go-to person. He does plumbing and septic for me. He installed my system, and I also use him for maintenance, too. I have a service contract with him. He always comes out on time when I need him to. I would recommend him to someone.”
Dear Sir,
On Friday, you sent me your servicemen to repair my “swish” problem as outlined in my letter of March 13th.
I’ve had no problem since and I want to thank you for your thoughtfulness. I’m hoping that life will bring you a reflection of the kindness that you’ve shown to me.
Right now, I have no more complaints (& hopefully none later) and you can be proud of the young men that you sent to service my problem. He was a definite attribute to your company.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
A.G.

Dear Mr. Bair:
I just needed to compliment you on the very fine employees you have with Adam and Jim. On February 18, we had a plumbing issue with clogged pipes and Adam and Jim were sent to our house to check it out. When they broke their drill bit and called the Sanitary District to ask them to “scope it,” things started to turn south.
The district required me to drive to the office, sign paperwork and to do this before anymore work could be done. Adam tried to talk with Sanitary personnel to see if one of their trucks could be sent out immediately. My father-in law passed away the day before and I was already dealing with that crisis. Adam was truly professional. He gave me assurance that if I could get the Sanitary paperwork signed, he and Jim would be back to work. In the end they both worked as a team. I couldn’t believe the size of the roots/clog that was causing our problem! I am so impressed with these gentlemen and their work ethic. Their only tip was a box of Girl Scout thin mints and samoas to sweeten the day.
Please pass along my compliments to Adam and Jim for their hardwork and professionalism.

To everyone at Robert Bair,
I just wanted to write a note to express my appreciation for your services. On three occasions we had your employees out to work in our house, and each time they were knowledgeable and very nice. I am especially appreciative of them for coming on Oct 4, when you were short-handed and would have preferred to reschedule me. Thanks so much for listening to my pleas and sending them anyway! My husband and I will not hesitate to contact you for any of our plumbing needs in the future, and will definitely be sharing our good experience with our friends and neighbors.
Thanks again!

A nice little thank you drawing from a young customer…
Dear Sir:
We are writing to commend your serviceman, Tony Fanella, who, when our furnace failed last week during single-digit temperatures, made six trips to our home to rectify the problem. He checked schematics, read voltages, and troubleshot until the heat returned. Tony’s competence, persistence, and kindness were outstanding; we were especially impressed when he phoned several times to make sure the furnace was still working.
It is our hope that you reward his excellent performance and show appreciation for the excellent work he provides on behalf of Bair Services. We would highly recommend him to anyone in need of professional, dedicated workmanship.
Happy New Year!
Very truly yours,
P.H. & R.H. from LaGrange, IL

To Robert Bair Services Company:
I know my service tech, Tony, gave me a comment card, but my comment would never fit on the card. I have been using your services this past year as I am not the original owner. I know people are more likely to voice complaints vs. compliments, so I though you would enjoy a compliment.
First of all, the lady who I spoke with (sorry I don’t remember her name) to set my appointment was very nice and very helpful. I appreciated how quickly you were able to send out a service tech. Of course, I feel a bit foolish that I called for service, since my furnace issue was a result of not seeing the pilot reset on top of the unit, but hey, it’s my first house, so live and learn.
Anyway, since I had told Tony I was a new homeowner, I appreciated very much that he explained to me what I should expect as my furnace is older and will need replacement sooner than I would like. I have been out of work for 6 months so I appreciate that he explained things and did not try to be pushy. He also explained why I needed to move my carbon monoxide detector from its present location and again, I appreciate that he took the time to explain and make sure I understood.
What is nice is that your service organization is consistent. I had a different service tech in November (JimH I think?) and he too, was very patient and helpful in explaining things to me. I had used other companies in my previous residence, and I caught them in lies on several occasions trying to sell me things I didn’t really need… I called it the old cracked heat exchanger story.
I have been in sales for 20 years so believe me, I have heard them all. Being able to trust the people who provide services is important to me, especially in my present circumstances as money is tighter than ever, and it is this trust that will definitely keep me as a loyal customer.
Anyway, Tony is very knowledgeable and offers great rapport with your customers in carrying out your message of providing great service. I know your business is tough for everyone out there these days, so I just wanted to thank you for always providing the best.
Sincerely,
T.M.

Mr. Robert Bair:
I wish to thank you for the service I received from a Jim H. After having trouble with my furnace, which was not resolved by the previous company, Jim repaired the problem in a very short time. Jim was very professional and courteous. It was a pleasure to do business with him. I have used Bair Services both at my former job and at home for years and I like the services received throughout the years. I will continue to use Bair Services as long as I can due to people like you and Jim.
Thank you,
C.H. from West Chicago, IL
A customer of Bair Services had just moved into a new home. Unfortunately, her cat,Gucci, wasn’t too happy with the move and became stuck hiding in some pipes behind the water heater. We ended up cutting the drywall on the other side of the water heater to rescue the cat. Gucci emerged full of drywall dust, but was otherwise unharmed. Our customer was happy and thankful to have her feline companion safe and sound in their new home!
This is just one example of how Bair Services helps customers solve problems, whether it’s a plumbing issue or a trapped pet that needs rescuing!

The New Economic Stimulus Package – Federal Tax Credits for:
Geothermal Heating & AC, High Efficiency Forced Air Furnace & AC’s, Heat Pumps. Boilers and Tankless & Solar Thermal Hot Water
The new tax credit is in alignment with industry research showing that remodeling and retrofitting the nation’s older homes will have a far more significant impact on reducing residential energy consumption than meeting even the most aggressive efficiency goals for new homes.
A 2008 California study showed that homes built before 1983 were responsible for 70% of the greenhouse gas emissions related to single-family envelope energy consumption.
The study also found that spending $10,000 to retrofit a 1960s home could save 8.5 tons of carbon at a cost of $588 to $1,176 per ton, depending on existing tax credits and incentives. By comparison, increasing the energy efficiency of a new home 35% over current state requirements would cost about $5,000 and would reduce emissions by 1.1 tons at a cost of $4,545 per ton.
The bottom line is that retrofitting existing homes with energy-efficient features is four to eight times more carbon- and cost-efficient than adding further energy-efficiency requirements to new housing, the study showed.

Serving the Western Suburbs for over 35 years.
October 13, 2009
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Chicago and Northern Illinois has introduced a new and more reliable rating system. Using a proprietary algorithm, it assigns a letter grade (from A+ to F) to every company in its database. The new system takes into account many factors such as a company’s complaint history, number of years in business and advertising ethics. The Council of Better Business Bureaus tested the system for over two years before making it the standard for all BBB’s across the country to follow.
The previous system ratings were purely based on how a company resolved its complaints and they simply assigned either a “Satisfactory” or “Unsatisfactory” rating to each company. It didn’t take into consideration a businesses’ volume, advertising, etc. As a result, larger and more established companies were often put at a disadvantage.
“We were very pleased the BBB has moved to a new & better rating system,” said Robert Bair. “Today consumers are turning to the Web to make more informed decisions. An A+ rating from a trusted name like the BBB in our competitive marketplace is an asset.”

Serving the Western Suburbs for 35 years Robert Bair’s business has really grown over the years. It starting with Bob working out of his garage; he sold his motorcycle to buy his first piece of equipment and as his reputation grew so did his business. Fast forward to today he now has 20 trucks and about 30 employees. Fundamentally, Bob’s values and work ethic is to ensure his team of employees, all his customers and suppliers are treated fairly. He does this by celebrating the success of all employees on jobs well done and by rewarding his team. During the holidays and summer he brings his team together with their families to thank and appreciate their dedication. He works closely with his suppliers to cultivate good relationships and to ensure they deliver the highest quality products.
The customer service team provides the customer a timely service call with courtesy and professionalism. The entire team (office & field personnel) have pledged to come in and work during weather emergencies because this is when they are most needed by the community. The company does regular maintenance, repairs, emergencies and installations. Whether is Plumbing or Heating or Air Conditioning the technician will assess the problem once onsite and provide the customer with a written proposal upfront. They get the customer’s approval in writing, before starting any work. They maintain an extensive warehouse full of equipment and the fleet of vehicles are all fully equipped to handle large and small service jobs. Each serviceman is uniformed and wears shoe covers to keep their customers home and business clean. Additionally they lay down the proper canvas to keep the work area clean and always take extra steps to clean up after each job. Bob has spent many hours finding and training his team. He hires team members based on honesty & integrity – he feels he can train for the other skills needed.
One of Bob’s favorite sayings is adjust to field conditions. After 35 years in business the playing field has changed many times and Bob has survived and grown despite many changes. Bob insists he does not want to retire because this business is his family and he loves his work.
Several years ago Robert Bair discovered that it was becoming more and more difficult to hire licensed residential service plumbers. The plumbing industry nationwide is struggling because the ageing plumbing population and there is not enough young people entering the industry to fulfill the needs of our communities. Bob decided he would open a plumbing school here in the building at 447 Rogers Street in Downers Grove which is lead by a state accredited teacher. Young apprentices now entering the field are trained for free one night a week while working alongside a licensed plumber as a helper/apprentice 5 days week. This is the only school of its kind in the area. All apprentice plumbers are registered with the state of Illinois and after 4 years must pass a stringent exam which covers building codes and other technical skills to ensure the health and safety of the residents in our community. It is a long journey from being an apprentice to becoming a licensed plumber but it is well worth the hard work. Many plumbers have received their license by apprenticing under Robert Bair; many are still employed here but some have gone of to start their own businesses. All are serving the local community with much needed services. Robert Bair has weekly safety and training meetings to keep the team apprised of any safety issues and this is the time when outside trainers come in to train on new equipment and procedures.
Bob’s professional relationships with his team members, fellow plumbing contractors and his large customer base serve the community in many ways. When the weather is bad he is at the office – sometimes its seven days a week. For instance last fall when you could not find a sump in any local store or supply house because of the severe storms Bob knew he had to find some more pumps somewhere for his customers in need and tomorrow was Sunday. He made many calls to local plumbing contractors and vendors with no success. Then one of his fellow contractors out of St Charles called to say had gone out of state to get pumps and wanted to know if Bob would like to buy some of them? Harmonious relationships are what serves and drives this company. Bob works to stay on friendly terms with everyone.
Bob was very humbled and surprised when he found out he had won these two awards. In the first picture Bob is excepting the DG award and the team picture is of Bob celebrating with the technicians. The day Bob won the DG award he went out and bought every employee a carnation and thanked them each personally for the award. He knows his people are what makes this company stand above the rest and he wanted to share the victory with them.
